Up in the Redwoods

For my birthday, Hannah bought us a tent and a couple of sleeping bags. This past weekend we got to use them for the first time at Humboldt Redwoods State Park. It was a lot of fun.

In honor of the occasion, and because I am slowly contracting gear acquisition syndrome, I got myself a new 50mm f/1.4. The blur quality is amazing, but I am still not used to the focal length. Below is a mix of photos taken with that one, and the 24mm.

Danny. He is not usually this serious.

Somehow, George convinced us to go eat veggie burgers, and we all enjoyed it.

Halfway there, we stopped at Willits. It is an odd little town.

They had two bookstores.

A pretty cool pair of bookstores, actually.

Then we continued to the redwoods.

Danny, explaining how to get big to avoid getting eaten by bears. See, not that serious.

We camped a few miles from another little town, Miranda. There were four or five businesses, all on one street. The cars were old and unusual.

Ali, who was very prepared.

In the morning, after checking out, we went on a long hike. Things were looking dry.

The trip planner. I wish I had the 50mm on for this photo.

And the rest of the crew. Would not have been the same without them.
